While anyone can call themselves a nutritionist, dietitians are board-certified food and nutrition experts and recognized medical professionals. Through extensive education and training, dietitians acquire the expertise to provide evidence-based nutrition counseling tailored to meet an individual’s needs.
The field of dietetics is a highly regulated profession with strict guidelines that professionals have to meet. Dietitians receive higher education in the field of nutrition and dietetics—the science of food, nutrition, and their impact on human health. They then undergo specialized training consisting of a mandatory minimum 1,200 hours of supervised practice. Finally, passing a national board examination and certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required to earn the "Registered Dietitian" title. Dietitians must also continue their professional development by completing continuing education credits in order to keep up with the ever-evolving field.

I work with private clients exclusively through telehealth. Sessions take place via secure video from wherever you are.

A comprehensive, personalized approach to your health and weight loss goals can lead to incredible transformation in as little as three to four months, but that length of time is generally required to see results and develop habits for long-term success.
Personalized Nutrition Coaching includes six 1:1 bi-weekly sessions with me, and they expire four months from the purchase date. This allows for a skipped week here or there if you have something come up or life happens.
Some clients prefer to continue working together after the program (six sessions) is complete. This is happily welcomed and determined on a case-by-case basis.

No, I do not offer one-off sessions. I've found that a service-package model with multiple means of guidance and support is the best method for more rapid, effective, and lasting change.

Lab testing helps pinpoint your body’s specific needs so that we can implement the most effective strategies to accelerate and optimize your weight loss and improved well-being. By testing for blood sugar imbalances, inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, cortisol imbalances, toxins, and heavy metals, we can identify the root causes of your weight gain and/or weight loss resistance, as well as chronic fatigue, brain fog, skin issues, trouble sleeping, and other unwanted symptoms. You'll receive more in-depth strategies to resolve these issues, so you can reclaim your energy and vitality and drop the weight for good.
Which lab tests do you offer? I recommend my Metabolism Functional Lab Test be completed by all of my clients. It includes specialty blood markers to determine any nutrient deficiencies, inflammation, hormone imbalances, or other underlying issues that may be contributing to your weight gain or weight loss resistance. Because Personalized Nutrition Coaching is 100% customized to you, once we are working together, I will determine which additional labs would be best based on your needs and goals. For some insight, my two most recommended at-home functional lab tests are HTMA (to detect mineral deficiencies and toxic heavy metals) and diurnal cortisol (to determine impact of stress and/or burnout on metabolism).
My doctor said my labs are normal, but I still don’t feel great. Can you help? Yes. Your results will be analyzed from a functional practitioner perspective — looking for optimal ranges, rather than "normal." Traditional reference ranges (used by most doctors) are based on the average population, which predominantly consists of metabolically unhealthy individuals (93% of Americans!). So just because your labs are "normal," doesn't mean you're healthy or, better yet, thriving. We want you in the optimal range so that the weight falls off (and stays off) naturally and you finally feel and look your best.
How much does testing cost? Standard blood work ordered by your doctor should be covered by insurance. However, I recommend a more comprehensive blood panel, which most doctors don’t offer. The Metabolism Functional Lab Test, which includes all the pertinent baseline labs I recommend, is approximately $175. Selection of additional functional lab tests will depend on your unique needs. Costs vary per test.
Note: I do not collect any fees for this service in an effort to make these beneficial labs as affordable and accessible as possible. Prices are determined by the lab ordering platform, Rupa Health. Insurance is not accepted, as many insurance carriers do not consider functional medicine services as "medically necessary" by current health standards. Payment plans are available.
Personalized Nutrition Coaching and functional lab testing are an investment, but not an expense. Working to transform your weight, health, and well-being will continue to reward you over your lifetime and give you back more time and energy (and often money) in the long run.
Is lab testing required? Lab testing is not required, and labs will only be ordered upon your approval. While I’m confident I can help you lose weight and enhance health without it, lab testing is highly recommended, as it allows for more personalized and effective nutrition, lifestyle, and supplement recommendations.
